"Being an artist isn’t just a “right brain” activity---you must use ALL of your brain, body and spirit to create. When the creation is done, the whole is much more than the sum of its parts… and so is the creator." - Lyrae Perry

New Artworks for the show in Raleigh, NC!

It’s always a mad scramble getting ready for a show and this year has been no exception!  It’s the same time of year as the AFA Annual Convention (The American Federation of Aviculture, Inc.) and I usually get a flurry of orders for lapel pins. The prep goes on for six months of the year and most nights I’m working until 1:00AM.  (No wonder my hair is getting greyer!)

I worked my tail off to complete two new pieces for this show:  A painting of Carolina parakeets (conures) and a big male Greenwing Macaw.  It feels really good to have that much done!  I really HAD to get the Carolina parakeet piece done because it’s the theme bird for the AFA convention this year, which is in Raleigh, NC—part of the original range of this extinct bird.  I probably will have no better opportunity to sell the original and prints than at this event.

The Greenwing macaw is a portrait of a very large male living on the farm where I’m staying in Dripping Springs, Texas.  The title of this piece is “What do you mean…“attitude” ?”    And boy let me tell you, this big guy has got it!!  LOL

Here’s a sneak peak at the two new artworks !
